Unlike previously informed, new regulation has been announced regarding foreign visitor registration during the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia. This new regulation is valid on 25.5. - 25.7.2018 and applies to cities that organize football matches:
Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Saransk and Sochi.
According to the regulation, all foreign passengers traveling to the cities must be registered within 3 days of arrival to Russia (earlier within 1 day of arriving in the city). Registration must be done in multifunctional centers or at the local office of migration registration of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (also open on weekends during the mentioned period). Please note that registration is not possible by mail.
According to the regulation, the receiving party will be responsible for the migration registration of foreign guests. Bigger hotels will take care of the registration for sure, however, we recommend checking in advance from the owner, if you are staying at a smaller hotel, hostel, private host, Airbnb or similar.
